We are currently hiring for the position of Foreman Dock Worker, a critical role in ensuring daily port and terminal activities are executed with precision and in full compliance with safety and operational standards.


Job Purpose

The Foreman Dock Worker oversees dock laborers and is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and managing the loading and unloading of cargo on ships, barges, and containers at the dock. This role involves hands-on work, leadership, and coordination to ensure timely and safe handling of all goods.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in dock or port operations, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and have a deep understanding of safety protocols, cargo handling equipment, and team coordination.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise dock workers during cargo loading, unloading, and transfer operations.

  • Assign daily tasks to laborers and ensure efficient deployment of manpower.

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other cargo-handling equipment.

  • Monitor work progress and ensure all operations are carried out according to established timelines and safety procedures.

  • Report any equipment malfunction, damage, or safety incident immediately to management.

  • Maintain accurate records of cargo movement, shift activities, and worker attendance.

  • Coordinate with ship crew, warehouse teams, and logistics supervisors to streamline operations.

  • Provide on-site training, instructions, and support to new or junior dock workers.

  • Conduct routine safety briefings and ensure compliance with port safety and regulatory standards.

  • Inspect cargo to ensure proper handling, labeling, and protection from damage or theft.

  • Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and health standards at all times.

  • Work in shifts, including night operations, weekends, and holidays as required.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certifications in logistics, marine operations, or safety are an advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in dock work, port operations, or a similar field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of dock and cargo-handling procedures.

    • Leadership and team supervision capabilities.

    • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

    • Familiarity with health and safety standards, particularly within port facilities.

    • Basic knowledge of English; Arabic is an advantage.

    • Physical strength and stamina for outdoor, manual labor.

    • Ability to operate or oversee use of heavy machinery and lifting equipment.


Preferred Attributes

  • Prior experience in container terminal operations or maritime cargo logistics.

  • OSHA or equivalent safety certification.

  • Experience working in multi-national, culturally diverse teams.

  • Ability to use handheld scanners, radios, and basic terminal management systems.

  • Positive attitude, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
